JS hopes to disrupt status quo in north AP

Kalyan had also strategically launched his first ever political tour from north coastal AP after he took a plunge into politics in May 2018. Moreover, his entry would also boost the morale of the party candidates in the district — a majority of who are political debutants. He spent a substantial amount of time in the tribal pockets of the region.Interestingly, north coastal AP, which is known to be a Telugu Desam Party bastion from its inception in 1982, is also known to embrace new parties and ‘outsiders’ with open arms. In Visakhapatnam, local Jana Sena leaders had long been demanding that Kalyan contest from one of the constituencies of the city, hoping that his popularity will help the party in the elections. Whereas in Bhimavaram, the party hopes to take advantage of the large Kapu population.The party also expects that Kalyan’s contest from Visakhapatnam and West Godavari districts would go a long way in attracting the first-time voters and neutral voters, apart from making some inroad into the vote bank of YSR Congress (YSRC) and TDP in north coastal AP, East and West Godavari and Krishna districts.Out of the 68 assembly seats of the north coastal AP region and Godavari district, which could be a deciding factor in the formation of the next government, Jana Sena now wants to bag a good number of seats.
