GUNTUR: Stating that clean and comfortable environs will help the officials to put in more work, chief minister Anil Chandra Punetha has complimented the district collector Kona Sasidhar for bringing life and verve to the century old district collectorate buildings.He said that Sasidhar had taken initiative to renovate the old structure to make it survive for another century. Chief secretary Punetha inaugurated the newly constructed conference hall and unveiled 100ft tall flag post in the collectorate on Wednesday. He had also inaugurated the renovated conference hall and other works taken up within the collectorate complex.Speaking to the media, Punetha patted Sasidhar for naming the conference hall after the legendary civil servant SR Sankaran. He asked the officials to follow the ideals and principles of Sankaran, the champion of peoples’ rights. He said that attending the grievances of the commoners and resolving them at the earliest would be a biggest tribute to Sankaran. “This building was constructed way back in 1912, which means about 107 years ago. Sasidhar had taken timely initiative to bring the structure back into life by taking up renovation works,” Punetha showered praises.He said that renovation works would help the structure survive for another century without any trouble. He said that conference hall in the collectorate complex was also renovated without spending much monies. He said that comfortable working environment would only help the officials to put in more work and help people. He said that the works clearly showed that Sasidhar had not compromised on the quality aspects anywhere during the renovation of the structure in spite of knowing that the work itself is a complex in nature. He had also complimented the roads and buildings department and housing department officials for completing the works with good interiors. CCLA Manmohan Singh, R&B principal secretary Nirabh Kumar Prasad accompanied the chief secretary.Rural SP SV Rajasekhar Babu, urban SP Ch Vijaya Rao, joint collector Himanshu Shukla, municipal commissioner Shrikesh Lathkar were also present.
