Visakhapatnam: Actor-turned-politician and Jana Sena (JS) president Pawan Kalyan on Thursday filed his nomination papers for the Gajuwaka assembly seat at the GVMC zonal office at Gajuwaka, becoming the first candidate from this part of the state who hopes to be chief minister.Accompanied by a large number of supporters and followers, Kalyan reached the zonal office and filed the nomination papers with the returning officer, at 12.15 pm, based on the advice of priests.Police resorted to mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd, which tried to enter the office to witness the nomination process. CBI former joint director VV Lakshminarayana, former Tamil Nadu chief secretary Ramamohana Rao, Madasu Gangadharam, Santhi Prasad and others also accompanied Kalyan.Later, addressing a public meet at Gajuwaka, Kalyan said that the JSP-Left alliance will form the government in 2019 and that he will be the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh. “Expecting good governance, I had supported the BJP-TDP alliance in 2014 elections, but they have dashed the hopes of people by indulging in various scams,” Pawan thundered.Recalling Newton’s third law of motion — For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction — Kalyan said that JS has fielded strong and able candidates in assembly and parliamentary constituencies to challenge the “criminal candidates” of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress (YSRC), he added.Taking on the YSRC, Kalyan alleged that people are afraid of YSRC and Reddy for their land grabbing activities. “While TDP has grabbed land, the YSRC will grab all the properties of the people if they were to come to power,” Pawan claimed.Accusing both TDP and YSRC of propagating dynastic politics, Kalyan said that the JS was floated to bring in a new kind of politics. He said, the party will focus on good governance and accountability. “I am a more mature politician than the others in the state and JS will win the elections” Pawan declared.Earlier, a mega road show was organised from Marripalem to Gajuwaka GVMC zonal office. Thousands of youth took out a bike rally . Fans of Kalyan showered flowers all the way in the road show, while women workers offered harathi to him. People attended the show wearing Pawan Kalyan masks and sported red scarf.The roads of Gajuwaka were jam-packed for over 3 kms with vehicles.Kalyan is the first chief ministerial aspirant to contest from the port city. He is also contesting from Bhimavaram in West Godavari district, but Gajuwaka will be the seat he will retain, if elected, party sources said.“We strongly believe that our leader will win the Gajuwaka seat, and will be the next chief minister of the state,” Kona Thatha Rao, the JS’s candidate for Visakhapatnam East, told TOI.
