Ongole: Former MP and YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s uncle YV Subba Reddy’s sudden disappearance from election campaign is creating ripples in the constituency.Insiders say that Subba Reddy is staying away from the campaign as he was sidelined in the party. YSRC has fielded former TDP leader Magunta Srinivasula Reddy as its candidate in Ongole Lok Sabha constituency. Subba Reddy quit during the term of 16th Lok Sabha when Jagan asked all YSRC MPs to step down demanding special category status (SCS) for Andhra Pradesh.Sources said that Subba Reddy, a granite industrialist, had lobbied hard to secure the ticket by using all his family connections with Jagan. Jagan, however, refused to budge and asked him to keep Ongole seat vacant.When Magunta Srinivasula Reddy delayed joining the party, Subba Reddy had again requested Jagan for the seat. Irked by his uncle's repeated requests, Jagan made it clear that Ongole would be given to someone else even if Magunta didn’t turn up and asked Subba Reddy to focus on poll management. Subba Reddy suspects that Ongole Town assembly candidate and his nephew Balineni Srinivasa Reddy was behind Jagan denying ticket to him.Moreover, he even chose to stay away from Jagan’s house warming function held in Tadepalle last month. YV Subba Reddy on Thursday said he was in Hyderabad to oversee party-related work and taking up charge of East Godavari district. “Although I am upset at not getting the ticket, I have not distanced myself from the party. Making Jagan the CM is top of my agenda,” Subba Reddy asserted.
