Vijayawada: By setting the tone for its election campaign, Congress released its manifesto on Friday with a promise to secure special category status SCS ) for Andhra.APCC president N Raghuveera Reddy, manifesto committee chairman Kanumuri Bapi Raju, co-chairman Shajahan Basha and convener Dr G Gangadhar released the manifesto which also promises implementation of AP Reorganisation Act 2014 in total.Earlier, Congress had promised to roll out SCS if the party was voted to power at the Centre and Rahul Gandhi became prime minister. In another key promise, the Congress manifesto said the party would waive loans up to Rs 2 lakh for both farmers and tenant farmers within 15 days of forming the government at the Centre.The party also promised to fill all government vacancies in 100 days and roll out Rs 2 lakh loans to women self-help groups. The manifesto also promised a special package for Rayalaseema and Uttarandhra along the lines of Bundelkhand package.“Congress will increase pensions to the elderly, widows and the disabled. The Congress government will also pay old age pensions - Rs 2,000 for 60-year-olds, Rs 2,500 for those above 70 years and Rs 3,000 for widows and the disabled,” Raghuveera Reddy said.Earlier, Congress had released its list of candidates for 175 assemblies and 25 Lok Sabha seats and is getting ready to intensify its campaign. The party leaders are also planning to bring Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for the election campaign.
