Candidate files nomination with a sack full of change

Vijayawada: An independent candidate , Bapati Madhusudhana Rao, came to file his nomination for the Udayagiri constituency in Nellore district on Monday, with a sack full of change to pay his Rs 10,000 deposit.Soon after Rao placed the sack on the table, P Sarojini, the surprised retiring officer delegated the vexing job to five staff members, which took them around three hours.
Later, the staff members dropped the sack in a room and began counting.Rao comes from a below poverty line section of the society and claims that he did not do it to pull off some kind of a publicity stunt but stated that all the Rs 1 and Rs 2 coins in the sack were genuine contributions from the public in his constituency that encouraged him to contest.He says that he is part of the All India Forward Block Party and that he was the in-charge this constituency.
