TENALI: Stating that development does not mean growing wealth of few people, Jana Sena Party (JSP) senior leader and former assembly speaker Nadendla Manohar asserted that they will make all the sections of the society partners of the development. He observed that JSP will become the voice of the underprivileged and the voiceless in the system. “We are here to bring the comprehensive reforms in the system. We have readied blue-print to empower the youth, poor and commoners,” Manohar told ‘TOI.’Manohar, who represented the Tenali assembly constituency for a decade, has entered the poll fray as JSP nominee. His visits in the constituency are evoking tremendous response from the locals. People are giving him rousing reception during his colony visits and recalling the development of his tenure. Interestingly, elderly people are also coming out of their houses to wish the charming former speaker of success in the next elections. Expressing satisfaction over response to his election campaign, Manohar claims that he had personal bond with the locals. “Many of them treat me as their family member rather than a leader of political party,” he said.He explained that he had readied a comprehensive agenda for development of Tenali in next 20-30 years. He said that he had secured funds for several schemes including a mega drinking water scheme , when he was legislator between 2004-2014, keeping in view of the needs of the locals till 2050. He criticized his successor for failing to complete the little balance works on the mega drinking water project. He said that TDP legislator could not take initiative to connect the overhead reservoirs, which were completed during his tenure, with the dedicated water scheme with pipeline in the last five years. He said that TDP government had also failed to complete the four-lane road between Tenali and Nandivelugu for which funds were sanctioned during his tenure.“Tenali has a big role to play in the wake of capital city coming up in Amaravati. It will become the biggest residential town close to capital city if properly planned. We will realize all such dreams in next five years,” said Manohar. He said that infrastructure should be upgraded to next level to help millions of people to settle down in Tenali. “Sadly, TDP government had done irreparable loss to the environment and ecology as they have dug out sand indiscriminately resulting in dip in ground water sources,” fumed Manohar.
