AP CM lays foundation stone for 14 medical colleges

The existing 11 medical colleges, will turn to total of 27 medical colleges in the state against 25 Lok Sabha constituencies

AP Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday laid foundation stone for 14 medical colleges in Andhra Pradesh.

The colleges - will be in Piduguralla, Machilipatnam, Vijayanagaram, Anakapalle, Rajahmundry, Amalapuram, Palakollu, Eluru, Bapatla, Markapuram, Madanapalle, Penukonda, Nandyala and Adoni - are targeted to be completed in the next three years at an estimated cost of 8,000 crore.

With the construction works of two medical colleges at Pulivendula and Paderu nearing completion, the 16 government colleges would add to the existing 11 medical colleges, making it a total of 27 medical colleges in the state against 25 Lok Sabha constituencies.

Jagan reiterated that he is committed towards upgrading government healthcare facilities in the state and make quality healthcare available to all sections of the society by setting up a medical college with a super-speciality hospital in every parliamentary constituency. Nursing colleges would also be set up alongside the medical colleges, he added.
