DRM: Avoid inconvenience to differently-abled passengers

Dhananjayulu on Saturday inspected the platforms, reservation office, catering stalls and other facilities at the Vijayawada railway station. The DRM interacted with the staff at the retiring rooms, booking office and other places.

He directed the officials to keep the gates open and provide easy access to senior citizens and differently-abled passengers from the East Entrance-1. Mr. Dhananjayulu walked into the air-conditioned and general waiting halls on Platform No.1, crew lobby, cell kitchen on Platform No.6 and asked the staff to keep them tidy. The DRM directed the officers to visit the platforms regularly to maintain cleanliness. ATVMs checked Mr. Dhananjayulu inspected the reservation office, charting room, unified ticket network centre, booking counters and stores. He enquired with the staff on the use of Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) arranged at different points. “The officers are receiving many complaints on excess charging by some porters,” he said interacting with the porters and assured to arrange a shelter for them in the station premises. He interacted with the staff and the passengers on the platforms and at the ticket issuing counters and asked about DigiPay transactions being provided by the Railways at various points in the station. Expressing dissatisfaction over the poor quality of work being taken up on Platform No. 6, he directed the officers to check the quality regularly. The DRM interacted with the staff at the retiring rooms, booking office and other places.
