more-in The family members of I. Yedukondalu and Chavali Sri Harsha, who donated their organs, were honoured during the Independence Day celebrations here on Tuesday. Yedukondalu met with an accident on June 13 last when he was on the way to pick up his daughter Jahnavi from the college. He died while undergoing treatment. The Jeevandhan officials explained his family members on organ donation for which they accepted. Twelve-year-old Sri Harsha died when a tree fell on him when he was returning from a milk booth on June 20 this year. Parents of Sri Harsha agreed for organ donation, though they were in deep sorrow. Police Commissioner D. Gautam Sawang presented good citizen certificates to Harsha’s father Chavali Srinivas Chakravarthy and Jahnavi at Police Parade Grounds. Good citizen certificates were presented to 22 others on the occasion. Mr. Sawang presented Police uttama and seva pathakams and certificates to 33 police personnel who exhibited extraordinary performance in discharging their duties in different wings. In his message, the Police Commissioner recalled the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and called upon the officers to work with dedication and honesty. Explaining the services rendered by the city police, Mr. Sawang asked the officers to maintain better policing on par with global standards and make use of the digital technology. Students of different NGO homes and educational institutions staged cultural shows depicting Indian culture and tradition. DRM unfurls flag R. Dhananjayulu, DRM, unfurled the national flag to mark the 71st Independence Day celebrations at Rail Stadium. Officers of different wings and security personnel participated in the celebrations. Staff and students of various educational institutions, leaders of political parties, trade unions, NGOs and other organisations celebrated Independence Day on a grand scale. In Guntur Roads and Buildings Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Collector Kona Sasidhar, Superintendents of Police Ch. Vijaya Rao and T. Venkata Appala Naidu participated in the celebrations and presented best performance and commendation certificates to the officers of various departments. Officials of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Government Railway Police (GRP) and AP State Disaster Response and Fire Services hoisted flags, while cultural shows enthralled the participants.
