These vehicles that have been in operation since April, have already collected data pertaining to the total road network of 47,000kms. So far the R&B department has analysed the data related to around 14,722 kms. In another three months the remaining analysis will be completed."The main aim of this APRMS is to have a scientific approach towards repairs, maintenance and laying of new roads as per the available budget. Now, if someone comes to us and asks us to construct a road, we will now go by the Road Database Management System. If the data analysis says that there is a genuine need for a road, we will do it, otherwise we won't and show the reasons that have been scientifically generated by the software," AP Road Development Corporation (APRDC), managing director, G Jagannadha Rao told TOI.AP Road Management System is also part of the externally aided projects sanctioned by the World Bank for the state in 2009.
