Ravi at the sprawling Don Bosco grounds here. These youth were shortlisted after holding preliminary screening at Ongole, Kandukur, Markapur, and Giddalur towns by the STEP. A majority of the trainees hail from the western parts of the district, where one member or the other from each family had successfully made it to the defence forces, says Dr. Ravi satisfied with the performance of the trainees ahead of the recruitment rally to be held at Vizianagaram on October 6. Ex-servicemen, including Sushant, Jeevan Kumar, Charles and Paul, provided valuable tips to the trainees to qualify in the test which requires a lot of physical endurance. After tough physical exercises, the aspirants are given coaching in reasoning and mathematics, general knowledge and current affairs to fare well in other recruitment tests. “Though a pass in SSC examination is enough for selection as soldier tradesmen, soldier clerk and soldier nursing assistant, graduates too have turned up for the training to get crack the tough selection process,” adds the CEO who arranged boarding and lodging for the trainees in collaboration with the AP Skill Development Corporation.
