more-in Gallantry is a cherished value for these committed group of 150 youth from the backward Prakasam district who are undergoing training ahead of the army recruitment rally next month. “We are determined to enter the armed forces come what may, say the youth after undergoing strenuous training session under the watchful eyes of Society for Training and Employment Promotion (STEP) Chief Executive Officer B. Ravi at the sprawling Don Bosco grounds here. These youth were shortlisted after holding preliminary screening at Ongole, Kandukur, Markapur, and Giddalur towns by the STEP. Only those who are sure to clear the medical tests are selected for training, saus Dr. Ravi. A majority of the trainees hail from the western parts of the district, where one member or the other from each family had successfully made it to the defence forces, says Dr. Ravi satisfied with the performance of the trainees ahead of the recruitment rally to be held at Vizianagaram on October 6. Tough session The tough training session starts at dawn and continues till evening under the supervision of a team of ex-servicemen headed by Raghava Rao. Ex-servicemen, including Sushant, Jeevan Kumar, Charles and Paul, provided valuable tips to the trainees to qualify in the test which requires a lot of physical endurance. After tough physical exercises, the aspirants are given coaching in reasoning and mathematics, general knowledge and current affairs to fare well in other recruitment tests. “Though a pass in SSC examination is enough for selection as soldier tradesmen, soldier clerk and soldier nursing assistant, graduates too have turned up for the training to get crack the tough selection process,” adds the CEO who arranged boarding and lodging for the trainees in collaboration with the AP Skill Development Corporation. At the entry level itself, the selected candidates will be paid between ?25,000 and ?30,000 per month, adds Dr. Ravi.
