Minister releases copies of unified service rules

Minister for Human Resource Development Ganta Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday released unified service rules for panchayat raj teachers here. There are about three lakh teachers in both the states — 1 lakh in Telangana and 2 lakh in AP — who would reap the benefits of the unified service rules. He said the then Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu had helped speed up the process of securing the Presidential assent. The Minister released GO No 72, 73 and 74, paving the way for filling the vacant posts of District Education Officers, Deputy Education Officers and Mandal Education Officers across the State. He said the State would be divided in four zones and district-wise promotion orders would be released for teachers.

The move ends a prolonged stalemate on the issue that had become impediment to teachers’ promotions. The Minister released GO No 72, 73 and 74, paving the way for filling the vacant posts of District Education Officers, Deputy Education Officers and Mandal Education Officers across the State. He said the State would be divided in four zones and district-wise promotion orders would be released for teachers. Also, 40 % of the vacant teacher posts in junior colleges would be filled with school teachers. He said the then Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu had helped speed up the process of securing the Presidential assent. In the past, Mr. Srinivasa Rao and Telangana Minister Kadiyam Srihari had met Mr. Venkaiah Naidu to plead with him the case of panchayat raj teachers, who were deprived of promotional avenues all these years because of the lack of such service rules. There are about three lakh teachers in both the states — 1 lakh in Telangana and 2 lakh in AP — who would reap the benefits of the unified service rules.
