United stand: Leaders of political parties and various organisations at the roundtable in Vijayawada on Monday. more-in The roundtable organised by Pratyeka Hodha Vibhajana Hameela Sadhana Samiti (PHVHSS) on Monday resolved to counter the BJP propaganda by taking up a massive people’s movement at grassroots level by exposing the step-motherly and indifferent treatment of the Central government towards Andhra Pradesh. Cutting across ideologies and affiliations, leaders from CPI, CPI(M), Congress, YSR Congress Party, Jana Sena, Aam Aadmi Party, Lok Satta, other Left parties, students’ unions, civil society organisations, women and farmers’ outfits took part in the meeting. The participants felt the need for a concerted effort in all 13 districts involving youth, students and women in a big way to highlight the precarious condition the State was facing owing to the misrule of the TDP and the BJP. They felt that the movement should reach its climax before April 5, the last day of the budget session. “We should stage rallies, meetings candlelight protests, and other agitations to counter the BJP campaign which is planning to launch a bus yatra to highlight the Centre’s role in developing the AP. The BJP leaders were instructed by their party chief Amit Shah to counter us with dubious figures,” said CPI(M) State secretary P. Madhu. He said the fight reached the climax and efforts were on to split them by planting suspicion. “The fight is for the future generation of Andhra Pradesh. We should not fall for the evil designs of the power-that-be which is trying its best to disintegrate us.” By laying siege to national highways, railway stations and airports, the samiti can generate more heat on the Central government. CPI State secretary K. Ramakrishna said that both the TDP and the BJP kept the public in dark and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was forced to take up the no-confidence motion owing to the pressure generated by the samithi. Samiti convener Chalasani Srinivas said AP was not asking for anything new but the promises made on the floor of the House while dividing the unified State in 2014. “Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh read out six promises. And we seek their implementation. AP people are suffering owing to the one-upmanship between the BJP and the TDP.” ‘Suppressive policies’ He said TDP Government was resorting to suppressive policies. He warned the people of Andhra Pradesh not to under estimate the North India political party - BJP - as it would do any thing to gain power. Congress senior leader N. Tulasi Reddy, film actor K Sivaji, Uttarandhra Charcha Vedika president Konata Ramakrishna and others spoke on the occasion.
