more-in District Legal Services Authority Chairperson and district judge B.S. Bhanumati has called upon the litigants to come forward to settle their cases in the Lok Adalat. Taking part in the Lok Adalat organised on the District Court premises here on Sunday, she said settling cases in Lok Adalat would help focus more on major cases that generally take time. To make better use of the facility, the cases which have been pending for a long time should be identified before hand , she said. The legal services authorities at national and state level were giving a priority to the Lok Adalats and daily instructions were being received on their conduct. Metropolitan Sessions Judge S. Nagarjuna said any case relating to family or properties could be transferred to Lok Adalat. Realising the time and cost of litigation, people should opt for settlement aided by expert advice in the Lok Adalats, he said. Narrating his personal experience , Additional DCP V. Sureshbabu said unlike in the past, the channel for compromise was readily available at Lok Adalat, particularly when both the parties did not want to press for the case realising the mistakes committed in the heat of the moment. He said of the 2,497 petty cases, 1,069 were identified and 507 notices had been served for the adalat. ASP N.J. Raj Kumar also spoke.
