Leopard rumours in Rushikonda grip locals

VISAKHAPATNAM: Fear has gripped locals of Rushikonda and Sagarnagar areas staying in and around the beach road towards Bheemili, after rumours about a leopard being spotted.The leopard's images were captured by a CCTV at Rushikonda layout. But while no footage of any suspicious movement was spotted, the CCTV managed to capture the movement of the leopard that was apparently looking for food. Though the CCTV footage is of June 5 - 11 days have passed by without another sighting of the animal - locals are scared ever since news about the sighting started doing the rounds. Though the night images are quite hazy, the animal looks a fully grown one.The police have informed the forest department about the suspected movement of the leopard and have advised locals to be cautious and not to venture out in the dark. They have requested the forest department and police to comb the area properly and ensure that the leopard is not in the vicinity.Sources said a camera was installed to track the movement of suspicious persons near Singapore Plaza in Rushikonda area of the city.
