Heavy rains likely in coastal areas of AP

As per the latest weather bulletin issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), moderate to heavy rains are likely to occur at many places in the coastal areas of the state on Friday. Visakhapatnam: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at many places in the coastal districts from Friday, IMD officials have warned.An IMD official said two low pressure areas are likely to develop over the north Bay of Bengal. It also warned of very heavy rains at some places. The district collectors too have been asked to keep a close tab on the weather conditions in their respective districts. An IMD official attributed the rainfall to the active southwest monsoon.“The monsoon trough is likely to remain in its normal position and will continue to be active over the next five-six days,”he said, adding that the sea would be rough to very rough for the next four days.

The sea too has been quite rough and fishermen have been warned not to venture too deep.The government has already sounded out the senior officials of all coastal mandals to stay at the headquarters and take precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incident due to the abnormal weather condition.
