Need more engineering seats at AU says VC

Visakhapatnam: The vice-chancellor of Andhra University, Professor G Nageswara Rao, said there was a need to increase the number of engineering seats at the engineering college campus in AU . Regarding the qualification criteria for eligibility to appear for PG and PhD entrance tests, the VC said there must be clarity on the issue. Speaking at the Board of Studies meet held at the campus here on Friday, the VC said proposals for increasing the number of seats should be submitted before the senate meet.The VC said preparations are underway for the construction of new buildings for the civil and computer engineering blocks. Prof Rao also urged the authorities to be ready with records as the varsity was applying for ISO recognition.The vice-chancellor also stressed on the need to increase the teaching staff strength and invite more visiting professors to the university. He further said there must be clarity on the issue of equivalence of courses.Regarding the appointment of research guides, the VC said the process must be taken up in a thorough manner and made it clear that all rules must be strictly followed.
