Heavy rains hit train services

Heavy rains over various parts of Odisha and Chhattishgarh disrupted train services as railway track was under rain water at some places and the track was washed away at other places. Hence the following train services are short terminated. Train services are continued on a single line. In KK line: Incessant rains in Bastar district led to heavy water flow on track and damaged the track on the Bhansi-Bacheli section.

Railway officials are working on restoration of track on a war-footing and monitoring the situation. Howrah-Bhubaneswar-Chennai Main Line: Between Bhubaneswar-Khurda Road near Retang Railway Sation, which is a thee-line section, the flood water is touching the danger mark of a small bridge over which two railway lines are passing. Hence, the train services on these lines are suspended from 12.45 p.m. on Saturday. Train services are continued on a single line. This led to late running of trains such as 18463 Bhubaneswar-Bangalore Prasanthi express run late by 3hours, 17015 Bhubaneswar-Secunderabad Visakha Express, 12703 Howrah-Secunderabad Falaknumma Express, 11020 Bhubaneswar-CSTM Konark express trains late by 1 hour 30 min; 22820 Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Intercity, 22644 Patna-Ernakulam Express, 12839 Howrah-Chennai Mail late by 3 hrs 10 min. and 12508 Guwahati-Trivendrum express was delayed by 4 hrs 30 min. In Koraput-Rayagada (KR) Line: Water flooded on the track at Bhalumaska railway station. Train no. 18447 Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand express was stranded in the section for about four hours. The train left after the water level receded, at 11.30 a.m. The train reached Koraput and all passengers are safe. The train was short terminated at Koraput and will run as 18448 Koraput-Bhubaneswar Hirakhand express. At the same time 18006 Koraput-Howrah Express was also stopped at Laxmipur Road in KR line and later started to reach Rayagada at 3.30 p.m. The entire section is being monitored under supervision of senior officials. The trains are allowed to run with speed restriction at vulnerable locations. In KK line: Incessant rains in Bastar district led to heavy water flow on track and damaged the track on the Bhansi-Bacheli section. Railway officials are working at the site to restore the track, which is expected to be completed by night. Hence the following train services are short terminated. The train No 58501 Visakhapatnam -Kirandul Passenger, which left Visakhapatnam on July 21 was run up to Koraput and returned as 58502 from Koraput to Visakhapatnam. Train No 58502 Kirandul-Visakhapatnam passenger that left Kirandul on Saturday will be short terminated at Bacheli. Train No 08512 Visakhapatnam- Kirandul special express, which left Visakhapatnam on Friday, was short terminated at Dantewada and returned as 08511 from Dantewada to Visakhapatnam, according to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager G. Suneel Kumar. Divisional Railway Manager Mukul Saran Mathur and higher officials of the Division and Zone are monitoring the situation from time to time.
