More than 500 kilos of ganja seized in a span of two days

Visakhapatnam: In a span of two days, more than 537 kilos of ganja , worth over Rs 1 crore, was seized by law enforcement agencies in the district.After receiving reliable intelligence, city taskforce seized 42 kilos of ganja at S R Puram colony, in Pendurthy police station limits on Sunday. Four hundred and twenty seven kilos of Sheelavathi variety of ganja was being transported in a truck bearing Haryana registration number, revealed cops. The three persons, which were taken into custody are Krishna Mondal, Nand Gopal and Sri Sujay, from West Bengal.In yet another incident, CTF seized 17 kilos of ganja at the RTC Bus complex in the city on July 21. The substance was hidden in gunny bags, under pineapples and jackfruits.Police arrested four people, Pala, Harjindar, Manipal and Balram of Panipat, Panchkula and Hissar districts. They revealed that the substance was worth nearly Rs 1 crore and was on its way to Haryana.In a separate case, on the same day, excise officials apprehended three people near Chodavaram town for transporting 40 kilos of ganja to West Bengal.

They apprehended three people, Korra Harish, Lochali Pruthviraj and Badnanmi Vinod Kumar of Pedabayalu village in the Paderu division of Agency, while they were transporting the substance on motorbikes, said a CTF personnel.The three accused, along with the 42 kilos of ganja, three cell phones, which were seized from them, two motorbikes were handed over to the Paderu Police for further investigation.On July 21, Paderu police seized 427 kilos of ganja near Genco check post based on reliable intelligence. Four hundred and twenty seven kilos of Sheelavathi variety of ganja was being transported in a truck bearing Haryana registration number, revealed cops. The substance was hidden in gunny bags, under pineapples and jackfruits.Police arrested four people, Pala, Harjindar, Manipal and Balram of Panipat, Panchkula and Hissar districts. They revealed that the substance was worth nearly Rs 1 crore and was on its way to Haryana.In a separate case, on the same day, excise officials apprehended three people near Chodavaram town for transporting 40 kilos of ganja to West Bengal. Excise officials said that the three persons, who were in a car, behaved suspiciously and tried to avoid officials, who were conducting a regular road check.When they stopped and searched the vehicle, they discovered the contraband substance. The three persons, which were taken into custody are Krishna Mondal, Nand Gopal and Sri Sujay, from West Bengal.In yet another incident, CTF seized 17 kilos of ganja at the RTC Bus complex in the city on July 21.
