Andhra: IT officer caught taking Rs 20,000 bribe

Later, the officer demanded Rs 50,000 bribe from him for closing the Income Tax issue. Based on the complaint, CBI officials laid a trap and caught her red-handedly while she was accepting the bribe on Tuesday. The CBI officials will produce the corrupt officer before the court on Thursday. After repeated requests from the businessman, IT officer Lakshmi Neeraja, had reduced the bribe amount and asked him to pay Rs 20,000.Vexed with the harassment of the officer and was not willing to pay the bribe, the automobile shop owner lodged a complaint at CBI. VISAKHAPATNAM: The officials of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday arrested an Income Tax Officer at Gudiwada in Krishna district for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from an owner of the automobile shop for closing the Income Tax issue.According to CBI official press release, the accused Lakshmi Neeraja was arrested following a trap laid by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of the CBI, Vizag branch in Gudiwada.The CBI officials said that the complainant is running an automobile shop in Gudivada and the IT officer Lakshmi Neeraja had collected certain documents pertaining to the complainant’s business and property on August 10.
