‘IT firms will need 18,000 recruits in next one year’

more-in Andhra University, Information Technology Association of Andhra Pradesh (ITAAP) and Consortium of Industries which have come together to train young graduates for the local job market have observed that an estimated 18,000 new recruits will be needed in the next one year. The ITAAP has about 175 companies dealing with IT, BPO, KPO and electronics segments while the consortium has companies such as Franklin Templeton, Conduent, WNS Global Services, Tech Mahindra and Patra BPO. “All these firms are running their business in the city and the requirement will tune up to 18,000 in the next one year. And to make the students industry-ready, we have designed a programme to address the core issue of employability, said AU Vice-Chancellor G. Nageswara Rao. According to him, the three months course will focus on communication skills and English language. “It’s open to all graduates, including the nursing,” said the V-C. Training schedule While AU will provide the infrastructure, ITAAP will provide the faculty and training. “We are ready to allot 20 e-classrooms to run equal number of batches simultaneously. It’s is now up to ITAAP to decide. I think we will start with two to three batches,” he said. The intake per batch will be around 60 and the notification will be issued on August 27. The last day for submitting application is September 10 and the classes will begin from September 17— from 5.30 p.m. to 8. 30 p.m. daily. “The AU will issue certificates and facilitate the campus recruitment. The initial focus will be on communication skills and basic computer skills in MS Office. Later, we may deal with the core subject areas. It’s for ITAAP to take a call,” said prof. Nageswara Rao.
