Close on the heels of a ganja smuggler being sentenced to 14-year jail, Metropolitan Session Court judge S. Nagarjuna on Wednesday awarded two more smugglers 14-year imprisonment, apart from imposing a fine of ?1 lakh each on them. A few days ago, S. Nookaraju from Yetigairmmapeta village of Golugonda Mandal was convicted of smuggling ganja. Fine imposedIn case of non-payment of the fine, the accused have to serve terms for one more year each. They were arrested by Chodavaram police near Gowripatnam on January 8, 2013, while transporting around 475 kg of ganja in a four-wheeler from Paderu to Vizag. Both the convicts were booked under Sections 8Cr/w20b(ii),(C), 25 of the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and sent to remand.
