more-in With an aim of giving the youth across the State a voice in the current political scenario, 25-year-old Naga Sravana Kilaru has launched an initiative ‘Yuva Galam’ to draft a ‘State youth policy’, along with a manifesto. Under the banner of Yuva Galam, Mr. Kilaru, along with a group of volunteers, has set out on a journey to travel across the State, covering all 13 districts, and meet young people, thereby giving their problems and expectations from the government a voice in the ‘manifesto’. “In the run up to the 2019 general elections, we plan to present this manifesto to various political parties and encourage them to adopt it as a part of their respective poll manifestos. In this way, the political parties will see the youth as a powerful voice and their will be an emphasis on their demands,” said the engineering graduate. With a team of 20 volunteers, Mr. Kilaru started the journey of ‘Yuva Galam’ on August 12, marking the International Youth Day, at Ichhapuram in Srikakulam district, the northern tip Andhra Pradesh. They toured various colleges in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts. At present, Mr. Kilaru is visiting colleges in Visakhapatnam. ‘Beach Walk’ on Sept. 4 “Apart from college meets, we have also planned to arrange a ‘Beach Walk’ on September 4 (Tuesday) at 4 p.m. from the YMCA. This is to get all the youth in the city together,” he said. “Till date, we have met more than 11,000 students from over 22 colleges. Our volunteers listen to their woes and try to incorporate their problems in our manifesto. We hope to make the youth more aware about politics and give them a voice in the political scenario of the State,” Mr. Kilaru added.
