Confusion grips Beach Road residents

The resident of colonies nearby faced a number of problems on the first two days of the trial run of the one-way traffic plan on Beach Road. “Before the trial run began, we aired our reservations on the one-way traffic plan to police. Lane parking“Many visitors found it convenient to park their vehicles in the lanes close to Beach Road, creating a lot of inconvenience for us,” rued a resident of Pandugrangapuram. With the plying of vehicles being restricted on one side of the beach Road, many residents were confused on the routes and had to take a long detours to reach their homes on Saturday and Sunday evenings. More importantly, the roads leading to their homes and the lanes were jam packed with the parked vehicles of the beach visitors.

People travelling from East Point Colony, MVP Colony and Lawson’s Bay had to travel for more than 40 minutes to reach Pandugrangapuram, Kirlampudi Layout and YMCA area, due to confusion over the route and long detours. “Before the trial run began, we aired our reservations on the one-way traffic plan to police. But, they went ahead with the implementation. Converting roads into one-way zone is no long-term solution. The authorities concerned should focus on building underground parking space or multi-layer parking lots,” said Uday Shirname of Kirlampudi Layout Welfare Association.
