In view of the rampant spread of dengue and viral fevers across the Visakhapatnam district, the NSS Unit – I of St. Joseph’s College for Women (Autonomous) launched a two-day awareness campaign on Wednesday. Meanwhile, TDP activists led by S. Panduranga Rao took out a rally in Tenneti Nagar and Ashok Nagar, creating awareness on dengue among the residents. As part of the programme, the students led by NSS Program Officer K. Manikya Kumari went door to door in Sebastian Colony and Gnanapuram and explained the residents about the causes and vital symptoms of dengue and viral fevers. As per a report, more than 2,000 dengue cases have been registered across the State until September 5. These areas have an open drainage system and students advised the residents to keep their premises clean.
