Yamaraj creates traffic awareness in Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM: Visakha city cops came up with a unique campaign in the city for the past two days to create awareness about traffic rules, especially benefits of using helmet. He urged the parents to see that their wards should wear helmets with valid licenses and avoid driving of their minor children. Traffic cops organised it at Gurudwara Junction , Maddilapalem and other areas. They even took the help of Lord Ganesh on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturdhi. So traffic cops tried to explain the motorists through Yamaraj and Chitragupta about how the people will suffer even in Yamaloka after death and requested them to wear helmets.

They deployed two persons dressed up as Yamaraj, the god of death , and his assistant Chitragupta, who intercepted motorists and warned them of visiting their homes if they violated traffic rules on Friday. They even took the help of Lord Ganesh on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturdhi. A person in Lord Ganesha attire was seen driving the motorbike with helmet.By the statistics, 28 people without helmets are losing their lives in the accidents in every one hour across the country. So traffic cops tried to explain the motorists through Yamaraj and Chitragupta about how the people will suffer even in Yamaloka after death and requested them to wear helmets. Traffic cops organised it at Gurudwara Junction , Maddilapalem and other areas. On Thursday, Madhurawada Traffic Cops deployed Lord Ganeshs for the assignment at Hanumanthawaka area.The traffic wing Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police M Ramesh Kumar said that on the midnight of Thursday, Ganesh Charturdhi, a motorist with triple riding hit a pedestrian on beach road. Pedestrian and one of the Pillion riders received serious head injuries and hospitalized while the rider was killed in the accident. He urged the parents to see that their wards should wear helmets with valid licenses and avoid driving of their minor children.
