Gold smuggled from Myanmar seized from train passenger

The passenger reportedly confessed that the gold was smuggled and he did not have any valid documents pertaining to the gold. The gold smuggled from Myanmar, which was seized by DRI officials in Visakhapatnam. Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence have seized gold weighing 1992 gm being smuggled from Myanmar from a train passenger here, which was concealed in sheet and biscuit forms in two bags and a guitar. “A total of 1,992 gm of smuggled gold recovered from the passenger, valued at ?62,34,960 and ?1,66,000 being the sale proceeds of smuggled gold has been seized under the provisions of The Customs Act, 1962,” the official stated.
