ENC braces for rescue operations

Aircraft are standing by at Naval air station INS Dega to undertake reconnaissance, rescue, casualty evacuation and air drop of relief material to the stranded as required. Diving teams with inflatable Gemini boats and associated diving equipment have been pre-positioned at INS Chilka to augment relief and rescue operations. Visakhapatnam: With cyclone ‘Titli’ set to make landfall somewhere along the eastern coast between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur in the early hours of Thursday, the Eastern Naval Command (ENC) has assumed high degree of readiness to render necessary humanitarian assistance. The ENC is monitoring the developments closely and is in constant communication with the state administration. Naval ships are ready to proceed to the affected areas at short notice to undertake humanitarian assistance and distress relief (HADR), evacuation, logistic support including medical aid.Divers, doctors, inflatable rubber boats and relief material that include food, tents, clothes, medicines and blankets have been stocked in sufficient quantities.
