Kadapa: The Kadapa district police wing has initiated the Preventive Detention (PD) Act against two international red sanders smugglers on Thursday.Shaik Mubarak Ali alias Mubarak (40), a resident of Puzhal locality in Chennai, is a notorious red sanders smuggler who has links with most-wanted international red sanders smuggler Ali Bhai alias Kaka who operates a million-dollar red sanders smuggling racket based out of Dubai.Mubarak, who first worked with Ali Bhai’s export cargo company, later floated his own company called Sami Import and Export in 2011 and has been smuggling red sanders logs worth crores of rupees out of the country.In the last five years, Mubarak smuggled away 200 tonnes of red sanders logs from Seshachalam, Lankamalla and Nallamala reserve forests spread across Rayalaseema region.Mubarak has cultivated an elaborate network with local red sanders smugglers who help him procure huge quantities of red sanders logs. He later ships consignments of red sanders logs to China, Malaysia, Dubai and Sri Lanka.Altogether 25 criminal cases have been registered against him in YSR Kadapa district alone.Similarly, another notorious red sanders smuggler Sethu Madhavan (36), from Red Hills locality in Chennai, is involved in red sanders smuggling racket for six years now.The driver-turned-smuggler is also a key associate of Ali Bhai and Sharif, two most-wanted international red sanders smugglers who operate from Dubai.Sethu has smuggled 300 tonnes of red sanders logs so far and 31 criminal cases have been booked against him in Kadapa district.Based on the report submitted by Kadapa SP Babujee Attada, district collector C Hari Kiran issued detention orders against the duo.
