more-in Officials of the Energy Department of Andhra Pradesh (A.P.) will showcase achievements in the implementation of Integrated Power Development Scheme and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana etc in the Review, Planning and Monitoring meeting scheduled to be held on October 15 according to a government press statement. Principal secretary (energy) Ajay Jain has received an invitation from the Union Ministry of Power to present the success stories, according to an official release. It was stated that network strengthening was taken up at a total cost of ?1610 crore in A.P. under the IPDS and DDUGJY. Under DDUGJY, A.P. became the first State to achieve 100 % electrification. The electrification of more than 1000 un-electrified habitations and around seven lakh households was completed by June 2016 along with strengthening and augmentation of substation and transmission works, metering etc. in the rural areas. The power utilities have taken up strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution networks and IT-enabled distribution under the IPDS. The A.P. delegation will highlight the doubling of installation capacity from 9000 MW in 2014 to 18000 MW in 2018, underground cabling works in Visakhapatnam, the slew of solar power plants being established in Rayalaseema and a host of other projects.
