‘Multiplexes pay no heed to consumer forum’s directives on MRP norms’

The forum also had directed the Legal Legal Metrology Department to ensure the implementation of the judgement in two months, Mr. Ali said. Citing the order issued by Krishna District Consumer Forum on August 9 this year, AASRAA founder-chief patron H.S. “Though the companies and the multiplex concerned had appealed against the judgement in the State Consumer Forum, no stay on the implementation of the order was granted,” he pointed out. Ali pointed out that two beverage companies were fined in a dual pricing case and the multiplex managements were directed to return the excess money collected from the customers, with interest. Key judgementsThe judgement, he said, had four key directions—allowing customers to bring packaged foods to the multiplexes, provision of drinking water, displaying MRPs of snacks and beverages and displaying the phone numbers of legal metrology officials.
