HYDERABAD: The Income Tax department was shocked by the fact that its move to conduct raids in Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam was known to many a day before the searches.The news about the arrival of Chennai teams to search VV Minerals and local teams on directors of irrigation infra companies went viral on social media after vernacular TV channels aired possibility of I-T raids in Vizag around 7pm on Wednesday. I-T officials suspect that AP intelligence sleuths are keeping a tab at hotels, travel operators and local I-T offices in key cities and towns of Andhra Pradesh in the wake of a series of raids on political leaders.A police official said in Vizag: “The news may have been leaked when I-T officials submitted their ID cards at the hotel.” I-T officials had found it difficult to get security from AP Police when they raided offices and homes of Telugu Desam Party leaders.
