Poll tweak: 14 top cops transferred

Vijayawada: The state government transferred 14 IPS officers on Tuesday ahead of the assembly and general elections next year.Out of the 14 officers shuffled, seven of them were heading district units. Kadapa OSD Adnan Nayeem Hashmi was posted as DCP-2 Visakhapatnam.Narsipatnam OSD, Siddarth Koushal, was appointed as railway SP in Guntakal division and M Ravindrababu, who has been waiting for the posting, was posted as DCP in Visakhapatnam. It is being seen as a preparation for the forthcoming elections by the state government.Guntur rural SP Ch Venkatappala Naidu has been posted as deputy commissioner of police (DCP) for law and order in Vijayawada .SV Rajasekhar Babu, who is the SP of Chittoor district, has replaced Naidu. The DCP-1 of Visakahapatnam, Fakeerappa Kanigelli, has replaced Kurnool SP Gopinath Jatti.Vikrant Patil, presently working as officer on special duty (OSD), Parvatipuram, was promoted and posted as Chittoor SP in place of S V Rajasekhar Babu.KKN Anburajan, the present OSD of Chittoor district, has been posted as Tirupati urban SP in place of Mohanty. The DCP-II position which was vacant for a few months has now been taken up by Kanti Rana Tata as the joint commissioner of police.Babuji Attada, presently superintendent of police (SP) of Kadapa district, has been replaced by Tirupati urban SP Abhishek Mohanty, and has been posted as Visakhapatnam rural SP in place of Rahul Dev Sharma, who will now become the SP of the special investigation team (SIT) formed to probe the recent Maoist killings.Kurnool SP Gopinath Jatti was posted as chief vigilance and security officer of Tirumala.Aiswarya Rastogi, who is presently the additional SP in Visakhapatnam, was posted as Nellore SP in place of PHD Ramakrishna who has now been posted in the special intelligence bureau.
