Vij-Singapore flight to begin from Dec 4

Come December 4, Vijayawada will finally find its place on the global aviation map with its first international flight to Singapore. IndiGo plans to deploy the 180-seater Airbus A320 on the route. Though the Singapore-Vijayawada flight was initially scheduled to operate from October 25 this year, the maiden flight had to be aborted and pushed back to December 4 due to issues with regulatory authorities.IndiGo said the new flights are designed to cater to business and leisure travelers from Vijayawada. Commenting on the development, Ajay Jain, principal secretary (energy, infrastructure and investment department), AP, said, “This will fulfil the dreams of the Telugu diaspora in Singapore and be a great convenience for our investor and business community.” Low cost carrier IndiGo on Friday announced plans to operate non-stop flight services twice a week to Singapore from Vijayawada’s Gannavaram airport jointly with the Andhra Pradesh government.Flight 6E-33 will operate from Vijayawada on Tuesdays and Thursdays, departing for Singapore at 6.20pm and arriving at the destination at 1.45am (Singapore time, next day) whereas Flight 6E-34 from Singapore will depart for Vijayawada at 2pm (Singapore time) and arrive in Vijayawada at 4.15pm.
