As for the legal action against VMRDA’s proposed project, we have not yet finalised the course of action but it has not been ruled out. The project will adversely impact not just residents living along the Beach Road but the city as a whole and would not be a sustainable one. No environment impact assessment study has been done for the project. A public interest litigation (PIL) will require resource mobilization, which will take some time. However, we will support if someone comes forward to file a PIL before the judiciary.”Vice president of Varwa also said that they will be writing to the VMRDA asking them to update the latest developments, revise the proposed project, if necessary, and also upload the minutes of the public hearing, where hundreds of people from the civil society and resident welfare associations as well as government representatives from civic and defence bodies were present.
