VISAKHAPATNAM: With the severe effect of heavy winds and heavy downpour due to the cyclone Pethai, around 14 flights from Vizag were either cancelled or delayed. More than 700 passengers were stranded in the Visakhapatnam airport on Monday morning.According to airport sources, the early morning flights were landed as per the schedule but it had become difficult for the airlines to run the services after 8 am. Many small size aircraft were either diverted or cancelled.Delhi-Vizag flight d was diverted to Hyderabad as the weather conditions were not favored for the landing. The Chennai-Vizag flight was returned to Chennai after hovering for some time for the landing. IndiGo flight number 6E 879 from Hyderabad to Vizag at 11.40 am and 6E 366 Hyderabad to Vizag at12.25 pm were cancelled. Apart from this, the same airlines cancelled its services from Bengaluru (6E287) at 7.45 am and Hyderabad service (6E 608) . Spice Jet flight No. SG421 from Hyderabad at 8.50 am was cancelled . While the Bhubaneswar- Vizag IndiGo flight, Bengalur- Vizag Air Asia flights were delayed.
