NIA moves court seeks files in Jaganmohan Reddy attack case

HYDERABAD/VIZAG: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday submitted a letter from the special court in Vijayawada to the seventh metropolitan magistrate court here, which is looking into the attack on YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy, seeking the transfer of the case to Vijayawada. NIA has also written to the AP DGP requesting for the case file.NIA officials had filed a memo in the special court that has been looking after all the NIA cases in Vijayawada on Monday seeking the investigation files from the city police.

HYDERABAD/VIZAG: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Tuesday submitted a letter from the special court in Vijayawada to the seventh metropolitan magistrate court here, which is looking into the attack on YSR Congress president Jaganmohan Reddy, seeking the transfer of the case to Vijayawada. NIA has also written to the AP DGP requesting for the case file.NIA officials had filed a memo in the special court that has been looking after all the NIA cases in Vijayawada on Monday seeking the investigation files from the city police. They told the special court judge that the case has been taken up by NIA. NIA officials had filed the FIR in the attack on Jagan on January 1.Jagan was attacked by a restaurant worker in the lounge at Visakhapatnam airport on October 25.“After the registration of the case, we have written to the AP DGP on Monday requesting for the case file,” NIA IG Alok Mittal said. AP police chief R P Thakur confirmed that they have received the letter from NIA.“I have received NIA's letter seeking case details of the attack. As the case is sub judice, we are waiting for HC’s order or an advise from legal counsel,” he said.The NIA team led by ASP rank officer Sajid Khan, which arrived in the city four days ago, is investigating the knife attack case.Meanwhile, the bail petition moved by advocate Mohammad Salim for accused Srinivasa Rao will come up for hearing on Wednesday at the metropolitan special judge court. NIA officials are expected to attend the hearing.
