Bill passed to regularise Simhachalam lands

Visakhapatnam: The Andhra Prades cabinet on Wednesday passed a Bill to regularise the Simhachalam lands, which have been under occupation for a long time, state HRD minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said.Rao said the decision was taken by chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu after consultations with advocate general Dammalapati Srinivasa.Rao said the regularisation process would involve charging the occupants the basic value as on 1998 plus 15% additional value for plots measuring between 201-300 square yards. For plots over 301 to 500 square yards, the additional value charged would be 30% of the basic value.” Rao said the government has also taken a decision to grant 200 square yards each to BPL families (occupants) in Simhachalam.He noted that the decision to regularise the Simhachalam land was taken during the first cabinet meet in 2014, but was kept on hold as the matter was sub-judice.However, regarding the cabinet’s decision to pass the Bill now, he added that it was done keeping in view the renewed demand for regularisation.
