2 suspected Maoists killed in encounter

Visakhapatnam: Two people suspected of being Maoists were killed by security forces in an exchange of fire at Buradamamidi village near Pedakodapalli area, Pedabayalu mandal, Visakha agency at midnight on Friday.A CRPF jawan Manjhi was also injured in the incident. Around 20 Maoists were present at the time of the incident. He said that the cops had noticed Maoist movement in border pockets and interior areas of Visakha agency over the past few days. The sub-collector assured them that he would bring it to the notice of the collector.

Visakhapatnam: Two people suspected of being Maoists were killed by security forces in an exchange of fire at Buradamamidi village near Pedakodapalli area, Pedabayalu mandal, Visakha agency at midnight on Friday.A CRPF jawan Manjhi was also injured in the incident. Two country made rifles were recovered from the spot. The police suspect that the two suspected Maoists were either from Pedabayalu area committee or Nandapur area committee as the place is a crossing point for both the committees and are still verifying the particulars of the deceased.However, tribals of the local villages have alleged that both the deceased were residents of Pedakodapalli. The villagers identified the deceased as B Bhushanam (50) and Sidari Jamandar (32), who were safeguarding their farms from rabbits with rifles in their hands at the time of the incident. Tribals often protect their farm fields by hunting rabbits and also consume its meat.According to Visakha Rural SP Babujee Attada, the incident took place at midnight. Around 20 Maoists were present at the time of the incident. They started firing at the cops and in retaliation these two suspected Maoists were gunned down. He said that the cops had noticed Maoist movement in border pockets and interior areas of Visakha agency over the past few days. “They are planning to disturb the elections and are moving in the sensitive pockets,” he said.Activists of the Girijana Sangham staged a protest at the sub-collector’s office in Paderu. The sub-collector assured them that he would bring it to the notice of the collector. Tribal leaders demanded that the government initiate a magisterial inquiry.They further demanded that the families of deceased should be given Rs 1crore compensation and also a government job.Pangi Nageswara Rao, an educated youth of Mettaveedhi in Pedakodapalli panchayat, alleged that these villagers were killed at farms and the dead bodies were thrown at Buradamamidi village, around 300 metres away.Girijana Sangham state general secretary, Appala Narsa alleged that cops killed the tribals and staged the scene to show as if there was an exchange of fire.
