Two-day seminar on tribal languages begins today

Kendra Sahitya Akademi and Girijan Cooperative Corporation will organise a two-day seminar on ‘Tribal languages and literatures in Telugu-speaking areas’ from March 26 at Siripuram, according to corporation vice-chairman A.S.P.S. On the second day, papers will be presented on influence of tribal languages and literatures on classical Telugu literature. Ravi Prakash. Secretary, Telugu Advisory Board of the Akademi, N. Gopi, will preside over the inaugural at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Seven Days Café. Subrahmanayam and Mr. Ravi Prakash will participate.

Subrahmanayam and Mr. Ravi Prakash will participate. Akademi secretary K. Sreenivasa Rao will deliver the inaugural address. It will be followed by presentation of papers by G. Uma Maheswara Rao (Language and literature of Gondi); S. Prasanna Sree (Scripts and encoding standards for tribal languages); Chintakindi Srinivasa Rao (Struggles and movements in literatures for tribal societies); B. Ramakrishna Reddy (Languages and literatures of Jathapulu, Kondulu, and Gadaba), and ‘Shakti’ Sivaramakrishna (Language and literatures of Konda Redlu, Bagatha, Vaalmikulu, and Konda Doralu). On the second day, papers will be presented on influence of tribal languages and literatures on classical Telugu literature.
