Ambitious plans: The ?4,000-crore project is to promote micro and cottage industries in the State. more-in The government of Andhra Pradesh is contemplating extending three-phase power supply to rural industries by segregating feeders at an approximate cost of ?4,000 crore, thereby promote micro and cottage industries in a big way. The Chief Minister instructed officials of the Energy Department to work out a special plan for it, said Chief Secretary Dinesh Kumar at a review meeting on the progress of works in the Energy and Infrastructure and Investment (I&I) Departments on Wednesday. Mr. Kumar said the Chief Minister was on keen on providing uninterrupted power supply (24 X 7) to all urban and rural consumers at global standards and has directed that necessary arrangements be made to meet the spurt in demand for power, which is mainly due to loads caused by air-conditioning equipment. Principal Secretary (Energy and I&I) Ajay Jain said that the utilities were fully geared up to meet the growing power demand and have successfully supplied 55, 610 Million Units (MU) in FY 2016-17, which was 11% higher than the energy supplied in 2015-16. Reliability index The reliability index of the power supply has also improved significantly due to the prompt monitoring of interruptions using the System Average Interruption Duration and System Average Interruption Frequency Indices, Mr. Jain said. The meeting was attended by AP-Genco MD and AP-Transco CMD K. Vijayanand, Advisor to Energy Department, K. Ranganatham and CMDs of eastern and southern discoms M.M. Nayak and H.Y. Dora, among others.
