The only weekly train from Visakhapatnam to Yeswantapur Special (06580) was once again delayed at the starting point resulting in people from the region, employed in Bengaluru, getting late to their workplaces after the weekend. Vinod Siram of Vizag tweeted on Sunday (June 25) that 06580, scheduled to leave Visakhapatnam at 1.45 p.m., was delayed by an hour at the starting point and reached Duvvada an hour late. After Duvvada, the jurisdiction of South Central Railway (SCR) begins. Vinod tweeted to the Railway Minister: ‘As expected I lost 1 day of my work. Great work by SPL. Train (06580) with 2.30 h delay. Special service at special fare.’ Passengers from the region, who were wary of the regular delay of the train from the starting point, had tweeted to the divisional authorities, much before the scheduled time, seeking that the train should be started on time to avoid inconvenience to office goers. When passenger Vinod tweeted about the delay and later addressed the tweet to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu. At 6.35 p.m. on Sunday, Senior DOM, Waltair, replied in a tweet: ‘5 trains ahead. No path and p.f. Matter informed to the headquarters to change path.’ This infuriated twitter users and they blasted the Senior DOM for making such recommendations. They demanded continuation of 06580 in the same timings and path as it was reaching Krishnarajapuram at 7.30 a.m. (right time) and people of Visakhapatnam region, working in Bengaluru, can reach their offices by 10 a.m. They asked the railway authorities to change the path of train no. 12845 and revise no. 17488 schedules in the IRTTC instead.
