Lensmen mount a two-day expo

Much to everyone’s surprise, Mr. Pravin Kumar wielded a camera and clicked a few pictures, imitating the lensmen while capturing the right shot. Murthy told The Hindu that about 24 photo journalists exhibited both positive and negative shades of the city at the expo. Several photo journalists at the museum stated that they got into the field out of passion.

A two-day exhibition being organised by the Vizag Photo Journalists Association (VPJA) to mark the 177th World Photography Day narrates a host of tales as photographers who work in various publications and news channels brought out assorted themes depicting vivid details. Several photo journalists at the museum stated that they got into the field out of passion. “Of all, taking action photographs involve a certain element of risk as you never know what kind of danger one gets exposed to while encapsulating natural calamities, industrial accidents and protests,” says Md. Nawaz, photo-journalist of a vernacular daily. President of VPJA P.N. Murthy told The Hindu that about 24 photo journalists exhibited both positive and negative shades of the city at the expo. Inaugurating the exhibition, attended by curator of the museum M.N.A. Patrudu, Municipal Commissioner M. Hari Narayanan termed the exhibition as a step towards getting global recognition. “Exhibition such as this should be hosted in schools, colleges and other campuses too. Also, there is a need to bring out a coffee-table book portraying various facets of Visakhapatnam for which GVMC will extend support to photo journalists,” he said. Earlier, a photo walk was flagged off by district Collector Pravin Kumar on the Beach Road. A number of students made a beeline for the photo exhibition venue. The exhibition will remain open at the museum on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
