The victory is being hailed as historic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian cricket team today shortly after Australia was defeated in its fortress Gabba. India won the fourth and the final test of the series in Brisbane, Australia, with three wickets, clinching the series 2-1.
"We are all overjoyed at the success of the Indian Cricket Team in Australia. Their remarkable energy and passion were visible throughout. So was their stellar intent, remarkable grit and determination. Congratulations to the team! Best wishes for your future endeavours," the Prime Minister tweeted.

"Hats off to Indian Cricket Team for registering a historic series win. The entire nation is proud of your remarkable achievement. Well played Team India!" Home Minister Amit Shah wrote.
