IPL 2021 auction: K Gowtham becomes most expensive uncapped player, sold to CSK for Rs 9.25 crore

Karnataka off spin-bowling all rounder Krishnappa Gowtham, who had a base price of Rs 20 lakh, was bought by Chennai Super Kings for a whopping Rs 9.25 crore at the IPL 2021 auction on Thursday.


With this Gowtham has become the most expensive uncapped player in the history of IPL. He was released by Punjab Kings ahead of the Chennai auction.

All-rounder Krunal Pandya had become the most expensive uncapped player in IPL history after Mumbai Indians retained him for 8.8 crore through Right to Match option in the IPL 2018 auction.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and CSK were in contention to grab the services of Gowtham.

He made his debut while playing for Mumbai Indians against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in 2018. In IPL, he has 186 runs from 24 matches and 13 wickets to his name in the cash-rich league.

Overall, he has played 62 T20s, scoring 594 runs and taking 41 wickets in them.

Krishnappa Gowtham has an experience of 42 first-class and 45 List A matches.
