All-rounder Deepti Sharma said, “ It almost fell like we had the Cup. If our (Deepti and Sushma) partnership had lasted for a little longer, we would have made it.”
Wicket-Keeper Sushma Verma said, "When we left for the tournament, barely 15 people from the media came to our press conference. But when we returned, the flashes wouldn't stop. From 2am, the time we returned, till 10am, we were giving interviews.”
"The same people who would tell my parents to not allow me to 'play with boys' came to congratulate me when I went home after the World Cup," said Nuzhat Parween.
Spinner Poonam Yadav said, "My family had issues initially when I was the only girl in the stadium in my city. But my team-mates and other players helped convince them and my father now encourages me more than anyone else."
"There should be more inter-state cricket tournaments. Over the past two years, UP has not seen a single cricket match organised by the association. How will we get another Deepti Sharma?" former cricketer Rita Dey asked.
The person behind such incredible event was Mr. RK Sharan, Director, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Talking to NYOOOZ he elaborated that the program was designed to encourage women cricket team. He also said many such programs are in pipeline such as AGRITECH, UP / Bihar, Global Summit, Agra and the information about these events will be out soon.
