India announce squad for Australia series; Ashwin-Jadeja rested again
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who had been rested against a weak side like Sri Lanka, have been rested once again but this time against a top side like Australia as BCCI made the announcement on Saturday.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Saturday have announced the Indian squad for the first three One Day Internationals against Australia. Quite surprisingly, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja who had been rested against a weak side like Sri Lanka, have been rested once again but this time against a top side like Australia. There have not been many big changes from the side that toured Sri lanka apart from the return of pacers Mohammad Shami and Umesh Yadav. Shardul Thakur who recently made his debut has been left out of the side.
"The team for the three ODIs against Australia has been selected in line with the rotation policy of the Board and accordingly R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja have been rested," MSK Prasad, Chairman of selectors, said.
"The team's performance during the Sri Lanka tour was outstanding and players like Axar Patel and Yuzvendra Chahal, who performed very well are being given an extended run and this will in turn supplement our approach, to build a strong reserve strength, as we prepare for forthcoming tours," Prasad added.
