The International Cricket Council on Tuesday has introduced a host of changes to the laws of cricket which will be applicable to all the series which will begin on September 28 or later. A number of recommendations had been received at ICC’s annual meeting earlier this year and now some major changes have been put into effect.

Here are some of the significant changes-

Thickness of the edges of bats can’t be more than 40mm and overall depth to be 67 mm at the most

A player can now be sent off the field for the rest of the match for any serious misconduct (Level 4 offence)

DRS rules Change- A review will now not be lost in case of a decision that remains unchanged

If batsman has grounded bat behind popping crease but lost contact with ground at time of wickets being put down,batsman will not be out

There will be no more top-up reviews after 80 overs of an innings in a Test match

DRS will now also be allowed to be used in T20Is

Fielders making their first contact with the ball will need to have taken off from within the boundary, otherwise a boundary will be scored

A batsman can now be out caught, stumped or run out even if the ball bounces off the helmet worn by a fielder or wicket-keeper
