Sri Lanka regular ODI captain Upul Tharanga has been suspended for third and fourth ODI of the five match series due to slow over rate in the second ODI match.
Chamara Kapugedera will lead the Sri Lankan side in the next two games against India as regular ODI captain Upul Tharanga has been suspended for next two matches due to slow over rate in the second ODI match.
Dinesh Chandimal and Lahiru Thirimanne have been recalled to the squad. Thirimanne is most likely to open the innings while Chandimal is likely to play at no. 4 in Tharanga’s absence. This is a big setback for the Lanka side which is already struggling and trailing 0-2 in the five match series.
Following the damage caused by Dananjaya, cool headed MS Dhoni and Bhuvneshwar Kumar led India to the win in the second ODI. It must have been really frustrating for Lankan team and their captain after Dananjaya had taken them to a winning position. All this resulted in a slow over rate and lead to the suspension of skipper Upul Tharanga.
In ODI cricket, the bowling side is required to finish the allotted overs in 210 minutes, which also includes the drinks break time. The standard over rate of an innings should be 15 overs per hour.
